Theodore Glickman established SAUL in 2013 after arriving in Berlin, with the intent to create the modern menswear he always wished he could find in stores. Having come to Berlin from Los Angeles, his design approach reflects comfortable, southern California ease combined with understated, northern European sophistication. SAUL is rooted in the aesthetic tradition of menswear, but it intended for people of all genders to enjoy.
The name SAUL comes from founder Theodore Glickman’s great grandfather who in 1943 founded Joan-Dell, a dress company in New York City. With an emphasis on quality fabrics and finishings, Joan-Dell thrived for many decades, and SAUL continues this legacy. Fabrics are sourced with quality and ecological sustainability in mind, and each item is inspected thoroughly. Part of SAUL’s ethos is to support local economies over exploited workforces abroad, so all items are handmade in Berlin, Germany.
Elegant, understated, and always inspired by the natural world.
